Central Indiana Community Foundation Grants (CICF)

    Summary

The mission of Central Indiana Community Foundation (CICF) and its affiliates, The Indianapolis Foundation and Hamilton County Community Foundation, is to mobilize people, ideas and investment to make this a community where everyone has equitable opportunity to reach their full potential—no matter place, race or identity. Our investments enable organizations to provide effective programs and respond to the needs of people in the neighborhoods and communities they serve. Alongside of individual, neighborhood and community partners, we will dismantle barriers and build pathways for everyone to reach their full potential.

    Grants:

    • Responsive: These grants are in direct response to community needs and support opportunities, ideas and programs that have been developed by not-for-profit partners to address those needs. Responsive grants allow for capacity building, project-based or program requests, and general operating support requests.
    • Leadership Initiative: These grants are in significant alignment with community leadership initiatives identified in the 2019-2024 strategic plans for Marion and Hamilton counties. Learn more about these initiatives on page six.
    • Donor-Advised Funded; These grants are made based on the priorities identified by donor-advised fund holders. Alignment with donor advised funds is identified by community leadership and effective philanthropy staff and only at the request of donors and/or after an application has been formally submitted through an open application round.

Community Crime Prevention Grant Program: The Community Crime Prevention Grant Program is funded from public resources allocated annually by Indianapolis-Marion County City-County Council and is administered by The Indianapolis Foundation, a CICF affiliate. The Community Crime Prevention Grant Program will give priority to organizations that clearly demonstrate an immediate intentionality around crime prevention and support programs using proven or promising strategies for a target population of African American males 18-24 that:

    • Focus on neighborhood mobilization through discrete activities, active violence disruption and community canvassing that targets, engages and involves hard-to-reach populations connected to gun-violence related activities.
    • Provide intervention services to adults or youth currently interacting with the criminal justice system to community-based services to build the necessary infrastructure to prevent violent crimes in Indianapolis and capable of delivering measurable results in the areas of employment and job retention for the population(s) of focus.
    • Improve neighborhood safety through partnerships with IMPD's Community Resource District Councils to mobilize efforts to reduce or prevent crime in specific geographical areas
    • Partner with public agencies (law enforcement, courts, probation and parole) to help or prevent crime in our community
