Community Foundation grantmaking strives to make meaningful impact and promote a culture of philanthropy. We employ two overarching granting channels to achieve these complementary goals: Community Grants and Catalyst Grants.
Community Grants are comprised of 5 programs: Old Bill's, Competitive Grants, Youth Philanthropy, Micro Grants, and Professional Development Grants. Collectively, these programs aim to:
- Address a range of community needs by building capacity and facilitating impact
- Create broadly accessible funding opportunities
- Foster widespread and diverse community engagement in philanthropy (e.g. Old Bill's Match incentive, grant application review by diverse volunteer review committees, including teens)
Old Bill's Fun Run: One of the most innovative fundraisers in the nation, Old Bill's Fun Run is also one of the most successful. This run has no finish
line. There are no podiums or medal ceremonies. It ends as it started, together, united in a greater purpose. Here, every step, every pace, every individual spin of the wheel represents a collective spirit?—?a shared vision of a more vibrant and enriched community for all. Old Bill's Fun Run exemplifies the very best of Jackson Hole. In this marathon of generosity lies the opportunity for meaningful contribution, for altruism amplified by the kindness of others, and for the singular drive to make a difference.
Micro Grants: Micro Grants are designed as a timely funding mechanism for requests that address community needs. Preferred requests are project or program-based and have meaningful community benefit.
Youth Philanthropy: In our Youth Philanthropy grants program, local high school students decide how to leverage philanthropy for maximum community impact. They review applications, discuss and analyze them with peers, make award determinations, and present grant checks to nonprofits at an awards party. Applying for a Youth Philanthropy grant is a great way to introduce your organization to local youth and to increase awareness of the nonprofits that serve our community.
Competitive Grants: The Community Foundation awards Competitive Grants to support organizations addressing important community needs in Teton County, Wyoming. Funding decisions are made by a volunteer Grants Committee comprised of dedicated community members with a range of interests and experience.
Professional Development Grants: The Community Foundation supports local nonprofits in seeking professional development opportunities that will strengthen their organizational knowledge, skills, and capacity. As a complement to our workshop offering, nonprofits based in and serving Teton County, Wyoming may apply for up to $700 once per calendar year to help offset professional development and continuing education expenses.
The Community Foundation of Jackson Hole does not provide support for the following: religious activities, debt retirement, political activities, or organizations working primarily to influence legislation. Grant applications that have been previously submitted to the Competitive Grants Program are not eligible for funding. The Community Foundation does not fund projects retroactively.
