    The Community Foundation for Southwest Washington cultivates, celebrates and sustains all forms of charitable giving in southwest Washington to help strengthen the region for today and tomorrow. They connect people who care with causes that matter, in order to do more good with the resources available.


    The foundation seeks to partner with organizations and initiatives that:

    • Meet an important community need in southwest Washington
    • Can demonstrate past impact or strong potential of future impact in addressing intergenerational poverty
    • Build awareness around and address the root causes of intergenerational poverty
    • Collaborate and share, carrying out their work in coordination with partners or in cohorts
    • Address disparities and increase opportunities for historically underserved people and communities
    • Are committed to diversity, equity and inclusion, both internally and in their partnerships and in their service delivery
    • Meaningfully engage the voices, perspectives and expertise of the people and communities they serve in the development, implementation and evaluation of their work

    Support Types

    Focus Grants are awarded to organizations that can clearly demonstrate how they are impacting intergenerational poverty in a meaningful way. Grant award amounts vary, with a standard maximum award of $25,000. If you are exploring requesting multi-year funding, please reach out to a Program Officer in advance as multi-year grants are by invitation only.


    The foundation will consider the following types of support:

    Operating support — Unrestricted funding to support an organization's mission

    Programs & Projects — Support for new and established services or initiatives

    Modest Capital Projects — Investments in buildings, equipment, and technology

    Capacity Building Support — Funding to strengthen organizational infrastructure, including support for diversity, equity, and inclusion work

  • Eligibility Details

    Eligible applicants non-profits that serve residents in Clark, Cowlitz and Skamania Counties.

    Deadline Details

    The foundation offers two Focus Grant cycles on the following timeline:

    • Cycle 1 opens February 15 - Cycle 1 closes March 31
    • Cycle 2 opens July 15 - Cycle 2 closes August 31

    *If on a weekend, the deadline will move to the Friday prior at midnight.
