    Summary

    Pinellas County Human Services is accepting applications from qualified non-profit social service organizations desiring to provide services to low income residents of Pinellas County to address their health, economic and social well being.


    The County funding priorities for Social Action Grants are:

    • Food/nutritional services
    • Homeless prevention and support services
    • Healthcare and human services for disadvantaged residents
    • Supportive services for an aging population
     

    History of Funding

    The total budgeted funding for Social Action Grants for Fiscal Year 2020 was $1,551,000.

    Additional Information

    The following expenses are not eligible for Social Action Grant funding:

    • Indirect Cost Rate (e.g. a fixed % of the program budget; direct costs are allowable)
    • Capital Expenses (including vehicle purchases; portion of lease or monthly payments for vehicles is allowable)
    • Improvements to Rental Properties
    • Research studies or technical assistance
    • Employee or volunteer incentives
    • Legal fees or any expenses specifically related to criminal activity including court costs or fees, fines, citations, restitution, child support, alimony, or federal, state or local taxes or penalties. Additionally, funding cannot be used to pay for costs related to legal expenses or legal actions of the applicant agency. Allowable legal expenditures may include staff attorney costs or direct client support (i.e. rent monies for settlement) for legal aid programs.

    • Immigration related expenses
    • Gift Cards
    • Money order

    Programs proposed by faith organizations must have a secular purpose, must neither advance nor inhibit religion, and must not require worship or religious instruction activities as a condition of participation per Federal guidelines.

    Eligible applicants are non profit organizations serving Pinellas County, Florida.

    Deadline Details

    Applications are to be submitted by April 30, 2022. A similar deadline is anticipated annually.

    Attendance at one of the two meetings listed below is a mandatory component of the application process. Links can be found on the program page.

    • Thursday, April 7, 2022 from 10:00am – 12:00pm
    • Tuesday, April 12, 2022 from 2:00pm – 4:00pm

    Award Details

    Approximately $1,551,000 is available in funding per fiscal year. Award amounts vary. Awards range from $10,000 to $150,000. New Social Action Grants are planned to commence on October 1, 2022, and end September 30, 2023.
