Office on Women Health Prevention Awards (OWPHA) provides grants to prevent the misuse of opioids by women across the lifespan. Projects must focus on primary or secondary prevention efforts and include partnership and collaboration components.

Strengthen prescription drug monitoring to avoid the transition to non-prescription misuse
Enable safe disposal of unneeded drugs
Accelerate research on pain and opioid misuse and overdose

Expand telemedicine in rural America
No human subject trials (Phase I, II, and II) will be funded through this funding opportunity.

Deadline Details
Letters of Intent were optional and were to be submitted by February 16, 2017. Applications were to be submitted by April 7, 2017.
A similar deadline structure is anticipated annually.
Award Details
Approximately $1,200,000 is available in total funding. Up to 12 awards are expected to be granted. Awards will range from $50,000 to $100,000. Project length is up to three years. Applicants must demonstrate a 1:1 match by way of letters of commitment from prospective non-federal public or private entities.
