    Coastal Community Foundation of South Carolina


    The Coastal Community Foundation of South Carolina empowers individuals, families, and organizations to make lasting impact through permanent, endowed funds for charitable giving. The Foundation serves nine counties in coastal South Carolina: Charleston, Beaufort, Berkeley, Colleton, Dorchester, Georgetown, Hampton, Horry, and Jasper. 

    Coastal Community Foundation runs two competitive grant cycles per year:

    • Specialized Grants: These are funding programs with specific criteria based on issue served, nonprofit size and/or geographical focus. In 2019, this included:
      • Blackbaud Fund: For organizations serving disadvantaged, special needs or minority youth by providing educational opportunities.
      • Charles Webb-Ed Croft Endowment Fund: Funding for organizations serving children with special needs.
      • Griffith-Reyburn Lowcountry Artist of the Year Award: Grant for a Charleston County visual artist, defined as a fine art sculptor or individual who works in oils, acrylics, watercolors, or pastels.
      • The N.E.W. Fund: Available annually to low-to-moderate income neighborhood groups in Charleston and Colleton Counties that address key issues in the neighborhoods and strengthen residents leadership skills.
      • Winthrop Family Fund: Available annually to nonprofit organizations serving Allendale and/or Hampton Counties addressing all charitable areas, with particular attention to education, health, and conservation/ preservation of the built and natural environment.
    • Regional Grants: This is an open cycle for which most nonprofits in the service area will be eligible to apply for a grant. Applications are accepted from all nonprofits in Beaufort, Berkeley, Charleston, Colleton, Dorchester, Hampton and Jasper counties, as well as arts organizations in Georgetown County.

  • Eligibility Details

    Eligible applicants are nonprofit organizations in one of the following South Carolina counties: Berkeley, Charleston, Dorchester, Colleton, Allendale, Hampton, Beaufort, Jasper, and Georgetown.

    Deadline Details

    Specialized grant applications are to be submitted by January 15, 2019. Regional grant applications are to be submitted by June 3, 2019. Similar deadlines are anticipated, annually.

    Award Details

    Award amounts vary by funding program, but generally do not exceed $10,000.
