The Virginia Highway Safety Office (VAHSO) provides grants for programs which are designed to reduce the number of fatalities, injuries and related economic losses resulting from traffic crashes on Virginia's roadways.

In FFY2021-2022, the Virginia Highway Safety Office awarded 420 grants totaling $30,054,291.

Interested applicants must attend a mandatory workshop before applying for grant funding. More information about the workshop and guidelines for grant applications can be obtained by contacting a VAHSO program manager at https://www.dmv.virginia.gov/safety/resources/safety_contacts.asp.
Eligible applicants are Virginia local governments, law enforcement agencies, state agencies, academic institutions, and non-profit organizations.
Applications are to be submitted by February 28, annually.
Award amounts vary based on program area. Program periods will extend 12-months, beginning October 1, 2023.
