    Summary

The South Dakota Community Foundation connects generous people and charitable nonprofits throughout the state of South Dakota. Their mission is to promote philanthropy, receive and administer charitable gifts and invest in a wide range of programs promoting the social and economic well-being of the people of South Dakota.

There are three different sources for grants within the SDCF.
    • South Dakota Fund Grants: unrestricted fund that makes grants in support of economic development, human services, health, education, and cultural programs.
    • Community Innovation Grants: more selective grants which focus on specifically supporting community problem-solving projects.
    • Local CSA Grants: SDCF partners with local communities to provide them with a community savings account (CSA). CSAs allow a community to invest and grow their endowment with the help of SDCF, but they still retain leadership over the administration of funds.

    Additional Information

The South Dakota Community Foundation Grantmaking Committee seeks to establish a balance of new and well established projects to fund with neither predominating. Regardless of duration, ability to be accountable for Foundation funds will be a determining factor.
