Eligibility Details

Only state and local governments are eligible to apply and only on their own behalf. Joint applications are not permitted.
Eligible inmates must meet al of the following criteria:
- Inmates were incarcerated by the applicant government under its own legal authority, for at least 4 consecutive days during the reporting period; and
- The applicant government either knows or reasonably and in good faith believes that the inmate is an undocumented criminal alien.
Deadline Details

Applicants must submit an SF-424 to Grants.gov by July 15, 2024 by 8:59 pm. Full applications must be submitted to JustGrants by July 29, 2024 by 8:59 pm EST. A similar deadline is anticipated, annually.
Award Details

A total of $210,183,444 is available in 2024. The maximum award amount is $59,000,000. Approximately 550 grants will be awarded. The reporting period is 12 months, from July 1, 2022, through June 30, 2023.
NOTE: SCAAP payments are calculated from information provided by applicant governments in online applications, the information provided to OJP by DHS regarding the DHS review of data on eligible inmates,” and the amount of appropriated funds available for the SCAAP application cycle
