The OJJDP Comprehensive Gang Model is an evidence-based framework for the coordination of multiple strategies to address serious, violent, and entrenched youth street gang problems. The model combines prevention, intervention, and suppression tactics to address the root causes of criminal gang activity within a community. OJJDP expects applicants for funding under this solicitation to develop program activities based on the core strategies of the Comprehensive Gang Model as outlined below.

Coordination with Project Safe Neighborhoods. The OJJDP FY 2020 Comprehensive Anti Gang Programs for Youth Program is part of the Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN) suite of programs, which is focused on reducing violent crime. These initiatives coordinate proactively with the PSN team in the district of the respective U.S. Attorney's Office (USAO) to enhance collaboration and strengthen commitment to reducing violent crime. Applicants are encouraged to demonstrate a willingness to engage with the respective district of the U.S. Attorney's Office (USAO), where violent crime reduction is a priority, for the purpose of potential collaboration. Applicants that demonstrate how the USAO has been engaged and the role it will play in the event that funding is awarded will receive priority consideration.

Up to $4,000,000 is available for total funding in Category 1. Up to eight awards will be granted. Maximum award is $500,000. Project period is up to 36 months beginning on October 1, 2020. Up to $2,530,000 is available for total funding in Category 2. Up to 11 awards will be granted. Maximum award is $230,000. Project period is up to 36 months beginning on October 1, 2020.
