    Summary

The Drving Under the Influence (DUI) Taskforce Indiana Program is the primary impaired driving countermeasure enforcement program in the state. This program is intended to decrease the amount of motorists killed and injured in Indiana because of impaired drivers.

This project funds overtime pay to officers participating in DUI task forces. Nominal funds may be used by sub-grantees to purchase equipment, including sobriety checkpoint signs and portable breath test (PBT) devices for effective impaired driving enforcement. Located in counties with high levels of impaired driver crashes, sub-grantees will conduct high visibility enforcement during three statewide blitzes. Saturation patrols and sobriety checkpoints will also be performed. These high visibility enforcement activities will also include impaired motorcyclists.
