    Summary

    The Utah Bureau of Emergency Medical Services and Preparedness, through the Utah Department of Health, hosts a formula-based EMS grant program for the purpose of improving the statewide delivery of emergency medical services.  In FY2018, approved grant applicants will receive funds for continuing medical education (CME) or for initial training.  CME is defined as continuing medical education exclusively for agency pre-hospital EMS personnel.  

    NOTE: Teaching aids, videos, DVDs are eligible if used for training, but equipment such as TVs, projectors, monitors, and screens are not eligible items.

    Additional Information

    Awards will be implemented through reimbursable grants with the Department of Health.  This means the grantee must expend funds for grant approved purposes and the Department will then reimburse the grantee for that amount.

  • Eligibility Details

    Eligible applicants are licensed/designated EMS providers, designated dispatch agencies of local or state government, and incorporated non-profit entities actively providing emergency medical care in the State of Utah.  For-profit licensed agencies that are the primary Emergency Medical Services for a service area are also eligible.

    Deadline Details

    Applications and agency rosters were to be submitted by January 27, 2017.  A similar deadline is anticipated annually.

    Award Details

    Up to $200,000 was available for formula funding in FY 2018.  Annual allocations are determined by (1) County classification, (2) Number of EMS state certified personnel actively involved in the provision of emergency medical services, and (3) The level of certification of each of the EMS personnel.  A list of FY 2018 per capita awards are available to view at: https://bemsp.utah.gov/wp-content/uploads/sites/34/2017/08/FY2018-Grant-Awards.pdf.  Cost sharing/matching is not required.  Program periods will extend 12-months, starting July 1, 2017.
