The Winston-Salem Foundation makes grants to a wide variety of charitable organizations serving the greater Forsyth County area of North Carolina, in areas including community development, the arts, health, education, human services, and beyond. Final grant decisions rest with our volunteer governing board, The Winston-Salem Foundation Committee.
Capacity Building Grants: Capacity-building grants are available to nonprofits working in any program area. Grants are available in four categories:
- governance/leadership/staff development
- learning/adaptation/evaluation
- technical skills
- diversity/equity/inclusion
Capital campaign Grants: Capital campaign grants (up to $100,000) are available to organizations on the Campaign Coordinating Committee calendar.
Focus Area Grants: The Foundation makes both proactive and responsive grants in two main focus areas: Building an Inclusive Economy and Advancing Equity in Education. Current focus area grants can be seen at https://www.wsfoundation.org/grant-seekers/focus-area-grants.
Small Grants: Small grants available to organizations and groups with an annual income of $150,000 or less.
