    The Community Foundation's purpose is to contribute to improving the quality of life in Muncie and Delaware County for this generation as well as future generations. To that end, the Foundation seeks to address the broad needs of Muncie and of Delaware County in the following categories: Arts & Culture; Community Betterment; Economic Development; Education; and Human Services.

    Community betterment includes but is not limited to recreation, public safety, neighborhood revitalization, animal welfare, beautification and preservation, environment, community well-being, and community development.

    The foundation does not make grants to individuals and generally does not make grants for religious purposes, for covering budget deficits, for travel, for fundraising events, for endowments, or for projects normally the responsibility of a government agency. Grants are generally awarded to 501(c)(3) organizations.

  • Eligibility Details

    First-time applicants are required to call the Foundation prior to creating an LOI. Grants are generally awarded to 501(c)(3) organizations. However, there are circumstances where an organization who is not a qualified 501(c)(3) may apply. Please call 765-747-7181 or email [email protected] and speak with program and nonprofit relations staff.


    Deadline Details

    Both the Initial Request and the Application will be accepted on a rolling basis, but the Foundation needs time to contact you, research, and think through your match. As a guide on timing:

    • If you desire a decision by February, they will likely need your LOI by December 13, 2024, to process for review.
    • If you desire a decision by May, they will likely need your LOI by March 14, 2025
    • If you desire a decision by August, they will likely need your LOI by June 13, 2025
    • If you desire a decision by November, they will likely need your LOI by September 12, 2025

    Similar timelines are anticipated annually.

    Award Details

    Award amounts vary by project size and scope. Large dollar requests (over $25,000 are most likely to be reviewed in the beginning of the year).
