    The Dominion Foundation invests in organizations and programs that improve the quality of life in the communities in which the company provides electricity or natural gas service, or has significant facilities and business interests. Dominion grants are made in the following categories:

    • environmental stewardship
    • education
    • human needs
    • community vitality

    Dominion Foundation grants support a variety of programs including, but not limited to:

    • food banks,
    • homeless shelters,
    • educational programs in mathematics, science and technology,
    • cultural outreach programs in the performing arts,
    • and land and habitat preservation.

    Each focus area has its own set of deadlines and submission requirements. Please see the Foundation website for more information pertaining to you area of interest.

    The primary interest of the Dominion Foundation is to support programs. Consequently, support of capital campaigns is limited and provided on an exceptional basis.

    Additional Information

    In addition to the other funding categories, the Dominion Educational Partnership accepts grant applications of up to $10,000 in the area of k-12 education and approximately $50,000 in higher education. These grants encourage the development of new programs to strengthen math and science education through the study of energy or the environment. This program has separate eligibility and deadlines.   • Eligibility Details

    Funding is directed primarily to non-profit organizations in the states where Dominion provides electricity and natural gas. A list of locations that qualify can be found at: https://www.dom.com/corporate/our-commitments/community/charitable-giving-and-the-dominion-foundation/grant-guidelines-and-restrictions.  Please note that depending on the priority applied to, the eligible region my change.

    Grant support is not available to: Individuals, Religious programs of churches or other sectarian organizations, Fraternal, political, advocacy or labor organizations, or Operating funds of individual United Way agencies, which already benefit from Dominion's generous corporate donations to United Way. Dominion does not typically fund university research projects or endow chairs.

    Deadline Details

    Applications are accepted year-round, and there is no deadline for submitting requests. Organizations requesting support renewal, however, should submit applications no later than September 1 of each year. 

     

    Award Details

    Principally through the Dominion Foundation, the company contributes more than $20 million annually to charities in the states where it operates or the locations where it has significant facilities or business interests. Award amount vary by proposal; however most grants are in the $1,000 to $15,000 range. Higher amounts may be awarded when a program is an exceptional fit with corporate business or giving priorities or when there is significant employee involvement in the effort.
